Weft yarn calculator
Estimate weft from on-loom length, reed width, pick density, and extra yarn per pick.

How the calculation works
weft yards = on-loom cloth length × PPI × reed width × (1 + path allowance) ÷ 36
The rectangular estimate does not model selvedge loops or variable beat precisely. Reed width can be wider than cloth at the fell, so treat the result as a planning approximation. Do not count unwoven gaps as cloth.
Full calculation methodologyWorked example
100 in of cloth at 20 PPI and a 20 in reed width, with 10% extra path, uses about 1,222.22 yd.
