How the calculation works
allocate ends proportionally; distribute rounding remainders to the largest fractions; yarn = ends × winding length
This answers how much of each color to buy. It does not specify stripe order or preserve a color repeat. Ties are resolved A, then B, then C. Whole-package rounding should be done for each color separately.
Full calculation methodologyWorked example
240 ends at a 2:1:1 ratio become 120, 60, and 60 ends. At 3.5 yd per end, that is 420, 210, and 210 yd before reserve.
Use the complete weaving planner to connect the dimensions, allowances, and yarn quantities for one project.
